IRS carried out the automatic testing of the most automated Electrolux refrigerator production line in the world: the Electrolux "Genesi" refrigerator line.

The new Genesi refrigerator production line was inaugurated at Electrolux in Susegana: "For us, the level of automation here is the highest in the world," said Massimiliano Ranieri, CEO of Electrolux Italia, at the press presentation of this highly innovative project. The introduction of the "Genesi" lines, with an investment of about 130 million euros, once fully operational, in 2024, will lead to the assembly of about 1 million refrigerators per year.

IRS has brought its own innovative and automation content by supplying the new automatic testing station for this innovative production line.. IRS designed, developed and installed the more than 200 automatic testing stations for the "Genesi" line.

The new production line, in which the automatic tests provided by IRS are installed, consists of two 600-metre long runs dedicated to the production of new models of built-in refrigerators.

The system, as Massimiliano Ranieri explained, allows about 49% of the operations previously carried out by staff to be entrusted to mechanical tools. The parts produced, three models of refrigerator lines that will soon represent the entire production of Susegana, are 94 per hour.

Theassembly takes place along a sequence of more than 100 robotic tools containing 70 workstations directly defined by the Industry 4.0 paradigm: the operators manage the 4.0 tools more than they assemble the refrigerators.
