IRS recently successfully completed the development of an automated End-of-Line test system for the electronic horn production line of FORVIA HELLA, a major player in the automotive industry.
The customer's need was clear: to ensure fast, repeatable and fully traceable testing while maintaining high quality standards in a highly dynamic manufacturing environment.
A tailored system designed for efficiency
To meet these demands, the IRS team has created a solution that integrates cutting-edge technologies for industrial control and automation:
- NI CompactRIO for precise management of test sequences and real-time data acquisition
- LabVIEW for automation of the entire process and acoustic analysis of signals emitted from horns
This combination made it possible to build a system that was flexible, scalable, and easily integrated into the existing line without disrupting production flows.
High performance, concrete results
The new End-of-Line system has brought tangible benefits in terms of:
- ⏱ S ignificant reduction in test time per device.
- 🔁 Improved reliability in cyclic durability tests (ON/OFF).
- 📊 C omplete traceability of collected data, thanks to a structured data logging system
- 🔧 Flexibility in adapting to different models, with variable configurations possible depending on the product
In addition, the system supports advanced acoustic tests capable of accurately assessing the frequency and sound intensity emitted by each horn, ensuring compliance with HELLA standards.
A concrete example of applied innovation
This project is a concrete example of IRS's ability to translate customer needs into high value-added technical solutions, keeping reliability, intelligent automation and quality control at the center.
